English as a Second Language
English as a Second Language
English as a Second Language is also called English as a Foreign Language (EFL). WUC offers ESL courses for nonnative speakers. These courses are conducted in small classes so that students receive individual attention from their teachers. Students study English and also participate in the cultural and social activities of the school and community where they study. The goal of the ESL courses is to improve the students’ level of vocational English as well as to prepare them for TCM studies. The classes teach different language skills, depending on the students’ English abilities, interests, and needs. There are three levels of the ESL courses: Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced. Each of the levels teach the following: conversational English, grammar, reading, listening, comprehension, writing, and vocabulary. Students may take each of the levels as many times as necessary to enable the student to pass the exam qualifying them to move to a more advanced level. Only students enrolled in our TCM degree programs are eligible to take these courses.
